Mads Brandt Pedersen and Rosie Edwards winners of the Belgian Coast Race 3.10.2023

Belgium hosted the third edition of the Belgian Coast Race, ocean racing event, which attracted more than 60 athletes from seven countries. Wins went to Denmark and Great Britain.


The 2023 Canoe Marathon European and World Champion Mads Brandt Pedersen, Denmark, was the winner of the 21 kilometres long course from Oostende to Zeebrugge. 27-year-old paddler who is one the best canoe marathon paddlers in the world competed well also in ocean racing. It took him one hour, 13 minutes and 37 seconds to conclude the 21 kilometres long course with a start next to Napoleon Fort. Andrew Birkett was three minutes behind to finish second, while third place went to Belgian favourite Sammy Feys.
 
In women’s SS1 event, Rosie Edwards (GBR), the 2021 ECA Ocean Racing European Championships silver medallist in junior age group, took the win with a time 1:22:11. Claire Dewaste (FRA) who was crowned ocean racing Junior European champion in 2021, was second this time (1:22:40), while third place stayed in Belgium thanks to Chloe Porton.
