Marko Marjanović takes the classic race win at the Balkan Club Wildwater Canoeing Championships 18.8.2023

Veles, North Macedonia, hosts the 2023 edition of the Balkan Club Wildwater Canoeing Championships. Serbian kayaker Marko Marjanović was the best in Friday’s classic race in senior men’s kayak.  


The majority of the medals of the first competition day at the 2023 Balkan Club Wildwater Canoeing Championships went to the hands of North Macedonian and Serbian paddlers. In a competition with representatives from North Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, Kosovo and even Malta, Marko Marjanović from Serbia took the win in the main event of the championships, men’s senior kayak classic race. Marjanović won with almost 23 seconds advantage. Neven Kleut, also from Serbia, was second and Aleksandar Zlatarov from North Macedonia third.

In women’s senior K1 event another Serbian kayaker took the highest podium position. It was Jelena Knežević who found the fastest lines, winning ahead of Despina Janakiewska from North Macedonia and Ana Raspopović from Montenegro.

In men’s junior U16 kayak event Ilija Kleut (SRB) took the win, silver medal went to Blagoj Guginov from North Macedonia and bronze medal to Serbian Mateja Lukić. Blagoj Guginov competed in junior canoe event as well, where he won.

Kristijan Lazarov (MKD) was the best in junior U18 age group, finishing the race ahead of Bodgan Djurić (SRB) and Alajdin malikovski (MKD).

Three Serbian kayakers took the podium positions in women’s junior kayak classic race. Sara Djurdić won ahead of Maša Ristić and Ksenija Plaznić.
