Czech Canoe Union awarded the best athletes of the season 2018. The decision was everything but simple. At the end canoe sprinter Martin Fuksa received an award for the paddler of the year in combined flat- and wildwater selection of the best athletes.

Martin Fuksa had an excellent year. He won two European Champion titles in 2018, silver and bronze medal at World Championships, was an overall World Cup winner and set two best world times. Canoe slalom kayaker Jiri Prskavec, silver medallist of the World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, was second in the poll and Josef Dostal, silver medallist in the non-Olympic 500m events of European and World Championships, was third.

“Both Martin and Jira won silver medal at World Championships and won the World Cup series. Therefore, the other results decided. The voting was very, very tight. This season was again extremely successful in all canoe disciplines and age categories. Comparing results is not easy, but I am very glad we have such pleasant worries,” said Jan Bohač, chairman of the Czech Canoe Union.

In the team category the award went to junior paddlers Tomáš Sobíšek, Ondřej Mašek, Vilém Kukačka, Jakub Brabec who won World Champion title at Junior World Championships in Plovdiv. In Junior category Gabriela Satkova received an award. In the non-Olympic disciplines Martina Satkova, Jakub Brezina, Lukaš Červinka and combined 20 man dragon boat crew which competed at World Championships picked up awards. The personality of the year in touring was Vojtech Jančar, while the most successful division became Campanula Ostrava.
