Martin Fuksa satisfied with training in Japan

Martin Fuksa satisfied with training in Japan 10.12.2019

Czech canoe sprinter Martin Fuksa was very satisfied with the training camp in Japan, more precisely in Susaki, Kochi prefecture. This was his third visit to the Land of the Rising Sun.

The training conditions for the Czech team and Martin Fuksa were great, “It was largely due to the fact that the Japanese built a house for us right next to the water where we train. We had fifteen meters to the gym, seventy to the water. In addition, we had our cook with us, so we didn't have to go anywhere and had a hotel-like service. It saved us a lot of power, we had 100% focus on training and regeneration. We could train, eat, sleep, so I imagine it,”said Martin Fuksa, who spent a month with his younger brother Petr in Japan.

This was the third visit in Japan, so Martin Fuksa became familiar with the local environment, “The Japanese were absolutely perfect. We made friends with people from the town hall and those who train there. They wanted to take us for trips, but we couldn't interfere with the training, so we had to refuse them even if we didn't want to. But it was nice from both sides.”

The Czech team, which included a number of junior medallists, also attracted the attention of local media in Japan, which accompanied sprint canoeists during training. “We were shooting something for a local television in Susaki. Paradoxically, national television arrived with a smaller crew and camera than I would expect,” Fuksa remembered.

After the return from Japan he trained in colder conditions at home, including cross-country skiing in Bedřichov. In January he will traditionally travel to Bulgaria for a training camp, as well as to Portugal where he plans two training camps, one for a month and one for three weeks.
