French wildwater national team dominated the individual events by winning seven out of fifteen medals for the grab, however it was Nejc Žnidarčič from Slovenia who made history in Bratislava.
37-year-old kayaker became the first ever wildwater kayaker to win five World Champion titles in this canoeing discipline. Žnidarčič has been winning medals at senior World Championships since 2008.
"I am very proud of this. World Championships have been organised since 1952 and no one until now has become World Champion five times. Always when you are at the top of some table it's a great feeling. I am now at the top of two tables," said Žnidarčič.
Slovenian won almost half a second ahead of French representative Luca Barone, while Maxence Barouh picked up bronze medal and was only 0.01 second behind his teammate Barone.
Lise Vinet won in the women's kayak sprint event ahead of Czech Tereza Kneblova and German Jil-Sophie Eckert.
Czech canoeist Ondrej Rolenc became World Champion in men's C1 event, while Frenchmen Quentin Dazeur and Charles Ferrion shared the second place with exact the same final time.
Cecilia Panato (ITA) was the fastest in women's canoe final, Tereza Kneblova won the second silver medal of the championships and Martina Satkova (CZE) won bronze medal.
