New ECA Board of Directors members elected in Bucharest

New ECA Board of Directors members elected in Bucharest 1.4.2017

01/04/2017 - The 13th ECA Congress has been held in Bucharest, Romania, today. The congress has confirmed the financial report, Statutes changes proposed by the ECA Board of Directors, the budget for the 2017 – 2018 period as well as the new ECA logo proposal. A novelty is also an inclusion of the U23 category to the Wildwater canoeing European Championships.


Miroslav Haviar (SVK) has been re-elected to the position of the ECA vice-president, Branko Lovrić (CRO) to the position of the secretary general, while Jean Claude Dethise (BEL) has been elected auditor.

Manuela Gawehn (GER) has been elected into the Board of Directors for the two years’ term, Elly Müller (NED) has been re-elected for the next four years. The new Board of Directors member is Peter Karai (HUN) who has also been elected for the four years’ term.

Elections were held also for the positions of the ECA representatives in the ICF. For the two years’ term have been elected Marta Felpeto Lamas (ESP) and Andrej Jelenc (SLO), and for the four years’ term Branko Lovrić (CRO).

As this was the last congress in the role of the ECA Board of Directors members for Irina Siraeva (RUS) who is leaving canoeing on an international level, and Thomas Konietzko (GER) who has been elected to the position of the ICF vice-president, both have received an award for their contribution.

ECA Board of Directors also awarded the European Championships to the following organisers:

2019 Canoe Marathon European Championships, Decize, France
2019 Dragonboat European Champiosnhips, Moscow, Russia
2020 Canoe Sprint European Championships (Seniors), Bascov, Romania
2020 Canoe Slalom European Championships (Seniors), London - Lee Valley, Great Britain
2020 Canoe Slalom European Championships (Juniors & U23), Solkan, Slovenia
