New power in British coaching team

New power in British coaching team 7.11.2020

British Canoeing has announced a new power in their canoe slalom coaching team. Nathalie Siegrist has joined the coaching team as the Lead Academy Coach after being part of the Swiss Canoe Federation for over 20 years.

Nathalie is currently the U23 National coach at Swiss Canoe and has worked with athletes across all ages throughout the athlete pathway, including the senior team as she managed and coached a group of athletes from all classes at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Nathalie will join British Canoeing in January and will take over from Greg Hitchen, who has recently taken up a new role as Podium Technical Coach.

"After over 20 years working for a small federation, I am very excited to take on this new challenge. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to work for British Canoeing, a federation with strong values and a clear vision for high performance. I really look forward to getting to know each person on the team and supporting them on their way to excellence," said Nathalie after her appointment.

Mark Ratcliffe, Canoe Slalom head coach, added, "We are really delighted to appoint Nathalie as the Lead Academy Coach. She was an excellent candidate in what was a tough selection process for the post. Nathalie’s experience adds something different to our coaching set up, she has worked with athletes at all age levels including that key transition age. Looking ahead to Paris 2024 and L.A. 2028, Nathalie will be leading the team to prepare that next wave of promising athletes."
