Nicolas Lambert and his kayak journey to Corsica 16.10.2020

Nicolas Lambert, Vice-European Ocean Racing Champion, took on a special challenge of crossing the Mediterranean Sea from Antibes to Corsica. It took him nearly 18 hours to complete the task.

37-year-old French paddler Nicolas Lambert fulfilled his long-term wish of crossing the Mediterranean. "Since I was a child, I have always dreamed of embarking on a personal challenge, like crossing the Mediterranean," said Lambert who started paddling at the age of eight.

Successful kayaker from Grau-du-Roi decided for the challenge after international season was cancelled, "This is undoubtedly the best period to realise this old project. Since I was a child, I have always dreamed of embarking on a personal challenge, like crossing the Mediterranean. I didn't think it could ever come true, I thought it wasn't for me."

He started his journey in Antibes and set his arrival destination in Calvi, Corsica, more than 170 kilometres apart. Athlete who travelled 5000 kilometres in kayak back in 2019, reached Calvi after 17 hours, 52 minutes and 35 seconds of paddling. He was there greeted by his supporters, including Gilles Zok, nine-time C1 World Champion.
