Only major international canoe sprint event this year held in Szeged

Only major international canoe sprint event this year held in Szeged 6.10.2020

With much effort and strict safety rules at the venue the 2020 ICF Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Cup happened in Szeged, Hungary. The attendance was lower than usual due to travel restrictions and situation worldwide and the thousands of fans that usually gather on the stands of Szeged regatta course were missing, but the athletes were happy to compete at the only major international canoe sprint competition this year. Athletes from more than 30 countries took part in the World Cup.

The host nation topped the medal table after three days of competition, with a total of 15 medals (6 gold, 6 silver, 3 bronze). Russia finished second in the medal table with four gold, two silver and three bronze medals, while Ukraine was third with three gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
