European Canoe Association would like to remind the following deadlines and information:
For all athletes that need to attend classification, it is mandatory to book a classification slot through the classification doodle that will be open until May 13
th.

All Va’a athletes must attend classification, regardless their status in 2017, due to the adoption of the New Va’a classification system in 2018.
Kayak athletes with a review status must attend classification
By May 15th: for the athletes that need to attend classification, their medical information have to be provided:
· If it has been given for a classification in previous year, and no medical information need to be updated à in that case it is not necessary to send it again.
· If this medical information has never been sent to classifiers, or if an update needs to be made à in that case please use the Classification Upload (see below) platform to provide those documents.
By May 22nd: Other mandatory classification documents need to be uploaded through the Classification Upload platform
· Paracanoe Athlete Information & Consent
· Declaration of Medical Complications & Emergency Measures – (if it was provided in the previous years and no update has to be made, it is not necessary to provide this document)
· Strapping waiver (if the athlete uses a strapping) – this document will be valid for the whole 2018 season
· PFD waiver (if the athlete does not use a PFD) - this document will be valid for the whole 2018 season
By June 1st: Equipment passport should be sent for all athletes

The ICF Paracanoe Committee would also like to draw your attention to the fact that the minimal eligibility criteria for para-Va’a has changed with the adoption of the Va’a Classification system:
The revised minimal eligibility criteria for para-va’a includes separate criteria for the legs and trunk. The minimal eligibility criteria for the legs is a loss of 10 points or more in one leg or a loss of 11 points or more over two legs in the leg test. This corresponds, for example, to an athlete with above knee amputation with no function in the ankle or the knee or an athlete with partial leg function in both legs.In addition to the minimal eligibility criteria for the legs, a minimal eligibility criterion for the trunk has also been established to include para-athletes with an impairment that affects the trunk more than the legs.
We would recommend you to double check if any athlete you may have entered in a Va’a category could pass this minimal eligibility criteria.
