20-year-old Hungarian parakayaker Peter Pal Kiss received an award for the best parasportsman in Hungary in the year 2023.
Hungarian Sports journalists' association (MSÚSZ) awarded the best athletes of the year 2023 at the gala, held at Hungarian state opera. The rankings were based on 471 votes, beating the record of 439 in 2019. Among those who received recognition for excellent performances in the past year was also young parakayaker Peter Pal Kiss, who defended this award from the year 2022. Peter Pal Kiss had another great season, winning gold medal in men's KL1 event of the World Championships in Duisburg and also securing a quota for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. This was third consecutive World Champion title for Peter Pal Kiss, who also won gold medal at World Championships in 2019 and became Tokyo Paralympic Champion. Peter Pal Kiss was also the fastest in men's KL1 200 metres final in Montemor-o-Velho which hosted the 2023 ECA Paracanoe European Championships last July.
