Polish Olympic Committee awarded canoe sprinters Justyna Iskrzycka and Paulina Paszek 23.1.2018

Polish Olympic Committee awarded the best young athletes of the year 2017 during the annual New Year’s Olympic Family Meeting held on 8th January 2018 in Warsaw. The Eugeniusz Pietrasik Olympic Hope Prize was won by canoe sprinters Justyna Iskrzycka and Paulina Paszek, and swimmer Kacper Stokowski.


In 2017 Justyna Iskrzycka and Paulina Paszek won gold medal at the ICF U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships in the women’s K2 500 metres event.
 
20-year old Justyna Iskrzycka was also the 2017 ECA U23 European Champion in women’s K2 500 metres event together with Katarzyna Kolodziejczyk, and silver medallist of the 1000 metres event of the same European Championships in Belgrade where she joined forces with Anna Pulawska.
 
Paulina Paszek likewise won a medal at the 2017 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships in Belgrade. She became European Champion together with Dominika Wlodarczyk, Anna Pulawska and Katarzyna Kolodziejczyk in women’s K4 500 metres event.
 
Iskrzycka and Paszek continued winning streak of young Polish kayakers. Last year this prestigious award went to the hands of canoe slalom paddler Klaudia Zwolinska.
 
Among the guests of the ceremony were the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda with his wife, Minister of Sport and Tourism Witold Banka, representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and Polish Olympic medalists.
