Quentin Bonnetain and Etienne Hubert the fastest in Ardeche

France hosted traditional canoe marathon sporting event in Pont d'Arc. French K2 Quentin Bonnetain and Etienne Hubert celebrated the win at Ardeche marathon ahead of Slovenian-Spanish crew Jošt Zakrajšek – Kiko Vega.
Representatives from fifteen countries took part in this year’s edition of Ardeche marathon, the 35th edition so far. It was a very tough competition, with only a second dividing the top two K2s in the finish line. At the end French duo Quentin Bonnetain – Etienne Hubert celebrated a win with a total time of 1 hour, 40 minutes and eight second, just a second less than Spanish – Slovenian K2 Kiko Vega – Jošt Zakrajšek. Third place also stayed in France thanks to Nicolas Lambert and Stephane Boulanger.
In women’s K2 event Manon Hostens and Sarah Guyot won in front of Pauline Guiet – Solene Graille and Camille Albert – Oceane Kister.
Men’s K1 event was dominated by Spanish canoe marathon paddler Walter Bouzan Sanchez, multiple European and World Championships medallist. German kayaker Andreas Heilinger finished second and Alberto Plaza Sagredo from Spain was third.
Czech wildwater canoeing national team member Anežka Paloudova was unbeatable in women’s K1 event. Pauline Freslon and Lise Vinet, both from France, were second and third respectively.
The fastest in men’s canoe was Theo Viens, Louis Lapointe was second and Etienne Klatt third for an all French podium. Nejc Gradišek from Slovenia was the fastest in men’s Junior C1 event.
Luka Obadić and Ivan Tolić from Croatia crossed the finish line with the best time in men’s C2. Erwan Degreve and Kilian Godart were second and Ugo Eldin – Lucas Priot third.
Manon Durand (FRA) and Alba Zoe Gržin (CRO) were first and second in women’s C1, while Urban Novak (SLO), Clement Monjanel and Elias Blais (both FRA) occupied top three positions in men’s junior K1 event. Ana Šteblaj from Slovenia was the fastest in women’s K1 junior event, her teammate Živa Jančar was third, while Coline Husson squeezed in between for a second place position. Margot Beziat competed in women’s junior C1 event.
