Ronald Rauhe athlete of the year in Brandenburg 20.2.2020

38-year-old German canoe sprinter Ronald Rauhe was named the best athlete of the year in Brandenburg for the year 2019 in a poll where sports journalists voted for the best athletes and teams of the year.


Rauhe, 4-times Olympic Games medallists, won the title of the best sportsman of the year in Brandenburg thanks to the World Champion title in men’s K4 500 metres event at the World Championships in Szeged, where he celebrated together with Tom Liebscher, Max Rendschmidt and Max Lemke. Men’s K4 also won silver medal at the 2019 European Games that were held in Minsk, Belarus.
 
In the second place of male athlete of the year we can find Sebastian Brendel, who was a serial winner of the award in the past editions, while Franziska John took sixth place among the best athletes of the year. Among the top 25 individual athletes of the year eight are members of Potsdam Canoe Club.
