Sam Maingay running marathon to raise money for Cancer Research UK

Sam Maingay running marathon to raise money for Cancer Research UK 22.1.2022

England Talent Programme slalom athlete Sam Maingay is running the Manchester Marathon this April to raise money for Cancer Research UK in support of his sister’s battle with Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Sam’s sister Jess has been diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphona and is currently undergoing an intense course of chemotherapy treatment. Sam is looking to raise as much money as possible over the coming months to raise awareness of his sister’s batte and for Cancer Research UK, who helps with researching the causes and treatment of all cancer.

Sam has been part of the British junior slalom team competing at World and European Championships over a number of years, and will be targeting a spot on the U23 team this spring alongside training for the marathon.

This will be Sam’s first ever marathon and a huge challenge as he looks to complete the race alongside his dad, sister’s fiance and his work colleague, collectively known as ‘Team Jiggs’.

The four have set a target of £1,000 as they look to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
