As a part of the ICF’s charity 5k race where funds will go to Doctors Without Borders Slovak sprint kayaker Samuel Balaž took on a challenge of setting the World’s fastest time in 5000 metres distance on a flowing river.
He was successful in his attempt and improved the previous mark by seven seconds. It took him 13:44 minutes of paddling on the Danube River to complete the task. “It was not easy at all, the water currents were extreme. The boat was unstable, I had to be careful with every stroke,” Balaž said.
