Seven nations compete at ECA Wildwater Canoeing European Cup in Slovenia

Despite the hard times, organisers did everything in their power to welcome athletes from seven countries at the ECA Wildwater Canoeing European Cup race in Slovenia. Today the classic race was on the programme, while on Saturday the medals in wildwater sprint canoeing will be awarded.


Representatives of Slovenia, Croatia, Germany, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Serbia were on the start line on the Kolpa River at the border of Slovenia and Croatia.
 
 
In the men's kayak event it was Tobias Kroener from Germany who produced the best time of the classic wildwater canoeing race. His time was 11:53.35, which was 28.80 seconds faster than his closest rival Urban Novak from Slovenia needed to reach the finish. Multiple World and European Championships medallist Anže Urankar from Slovenia was third.
 
 
In men's canoe event Tomislav Hohnjec from Croatia won ahead of two young Slovenian paddlers. Nejc Gradišek was second and Taj Kevin Bizjak third.
 
 
In women's kayak event the win went to Austria thanks to Valentina Dreier who was two seconds faster than Ana Šteblaj from Slovenia. Another Slovenian paddler Živa Jančar was third.
 
 
In women's C1 and men's C2 events there was only one boat on the startline of the event. Croatian canoeist Alba Zoe Grzin and Slovenian double Taj Kevin Bizjak - Matija Preskar.
