Slafkovsky, Prskavec and Fišerova – Jane overall canoe slalom World Cup winners 10.9.2018

After five weekends and exciting races in Liptovsky Mikulaš, Krakow, Augsburg, Ljubljana – Tacen and La Seu d’Urgell the 2018 canoe slalom World Cup series has come to an end. European paddlers once more dominated the races and also the overall World Cup standings.

In men’s C1 Slovak canoeist Alexander Slafkovsky reached the top position after four second places in the series. Last year Slafkovsky finished third in the world cup overall standings. Third place went to the hands of German paddler Sideris Tasiadis who was the winner of last year’s series. Luka Božič from Slovenia was second this year to replace him teammate Benjamin Savšek who was second in the season 2017.

In men’s kayak standings Czech Republic remains on the top, only this year it was Jiri Prskavec who had the best results of all. Last year’s winner Vit Prindiš was third, while French paddler Mathieu Biazizzo finished the season in second position.

It was a really tight fight in women’s kayak standings where only one point divided last year overall world cup winner Ricarda Funk from Germany and Australian Jessica Fox. The latter this year concluded the series with a total of 303 points, while Ricarda Funk gathered 302 points in five races. Austrian Corinna Kuhnle was third.

Fox was unbeatable in women’s C1 event, while the second and third position went to European paddlers. Mallory Franklin from Great Britain was second and Austrian Viktoria Wolffhardt third.
