Slovak Canoeing mourns the death of Jan Dojčan 11.3.2021

Slovak Canoeing mourns the death of Jan Dojčan, former Secretary General of the Slovak Canoe Association, who passed away at the age of 65 following the Covid-19 complications.


Jan Dojčan was tightly involved in Slovak Canoeing. He was vice-chairman of the board of directors of the Slavia UK Bratislava club and former general secretary of Slovak Canoeing. He served as Secretary General of the SZKDV from 1993 to 2008, he was a member of the Slovak Olympic Committee's Executive Committee in the period 1997-2001 and in 2009-2013 he worked as the Deputy Director of the Anti-Doping Agency of the Slovak Republic.
 
During his 15 years in office, Dojčan participated in the "golden" period of canoe slalom in Slovakia. He worked as a race director at several World Cup races and at the 2002 European Championships in Čunovo. In 2009, he received the Award for Long-Term Contribution from Slovak Canoeing. In 2007, he received the Silver Circles of the Slovak Olympic Committee for his significant contribution to sport and Olympics.
