A couple of days ago white water section of Slovak Canoeing informed us they decided not to participate at any international events in 2020 to ensure safety of their athletes. The position of sprint paddlers at the moment is opposite, they intend to participate at two major international events this year.
We have already reported Slovak whitewater paddlers decided to skip international competitions due to coronavirus pandemic. The situation is slightly different in flatwater section of the federation. Filip Petrla, canoe sprint sports director, said for Slovak TV, “We plan to participate at World Cup in Szeged, Hungary, in September, and at European Championships which is scheduled for 15th October. We also do not want to endanger the health of our athletes, so we will carefully monitor the situation.”
