Spanish Canoeing says goodbye to José Antonio Muñoz, one of the key figures in Andalusian canoeing 4.4.2018

Royal Spanish Canoe Federation reports on another loss for Spanish canoeing and sport. Only days after the passing of José Luis Calvo Román, former paddler and coach and RFEP's official, another sad news comes with the passing of José Antonio Muñoz, known as Anchoa, one of the key figures in promotion of canoeing in Andalusia.

José Antonio Muñoz, a former rower, was a director of the High Performance Center of La Cartuja since November 1993 and his role in the popularization and growth of canoeing as well as rowing in Seville and Andalusia in general has been very important. He was a director of the Canoe Sprint World Cup in Seville in 1999, general coordinator of canoeing and rowing World Cups in 2001 and held the same function for the 2002 World Championships.

In 2002 he received the Royal Order of Sports Merit after the proposal of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.

We would like to express sincere condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace.
