The Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) awarded Marta Felpeto Lamas, the first Spanish woman to be elected to the European Canoe Association’s Board of Directors position and international canoeing technical official who also took part in the 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games and 2015 Baku European Games, for her “outstanding contribution and dedication to the development of canoeing in Spain”.
Marta Felpeto Lamas, who is also a member of the technical organisation within the Royal Spanish Canoe Federation (RFEP) and member of the women’s committee within the RFEP, received an award which is awarded to those who, in their position or function, collaborate or have collaborated actively, altruistically, with the COE, with Olympism or with sport.
Marta Felpeto Lamas is also strongly involved with the organisation of the International Congress of Coaches in Sprint Canoeing which is set in Catoira every two years. She also prepared a detailed study on the reasons for women’s abandonment of canoeing and those findings were presented at the VI International Congress of Coaches in Sprint Canoeing last October.
