Sprint Canoeists and Paracanoeists Set to Chase European Titles in Racice 16.6.2025

A new week brings fresh challenges for European canoe and kayak paddlers. This time, the spotlight is on the sprint canoeists and paracanoeists, who are heading to the 2025 ECA Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe European Championships. The competition will take place in Racice, Czechia.


The venue in Racice has already hosted numerous top-level canoe sprint and paracanoe competitions, ranging from World Cups and World Championships to two Senior European Championships in 2006 and 2015, as well as Junior and Under 23 Championships. This time athletes from 32 European countries will fight for the European Champion titles.
 
This year’s European Championships promises to deliver thrilling and closely contested races, with a very strong field expected. All European national teams are arriving to Czechia with their best athletes. Local fans will be able to watch in action Olympic Champions Martin Fuksa and Josef Dostal, who will face a tough competition. On the startline we will see many stars, impossible to name them all, but among them will be Fernando Pimenta, Adam Varga, Balint Kopasz, Bence Nadas, Anna Pulawska, Milica Novakovic, Marcos Cooper Walz, Carlos Arevalo, Melina Andersson, Jacob Schopf, Max Lemke, Anna Lucz, recently crowned wildwater canoeing European Champion Manon Hostens, Jon Vold, Arturas Seja, Carlo Tacchini, Manfredi Rizza, Catalin Chirila, Frederikke Matthiesen, Artuur Peters and many more.
 
Equally strong will be competition in paracanoeing. The always strong British team includes Charlotte Henshaw, Laura Sugar, Hope Gordon, Jack Eyers, Hungary has high hopes with Peter Pal Kiss, French with Nelia Barbosa and Remy Boulle, Ukraine has Mykola Syniuk, Vladyslav Yepifanov and Nataliia Lahutenko, Georgia will have Serhii Yemelianov, Portugal Norberto Mourao, Germany Edina Mueller, Anja Adler ...
 
The competition schedule will be slightly different compared to previous seasons. All heats will take place on Thursday, followed by semi-finals on Friday, and medal races on Saturday and Sunday. The event will officially open on Wednesday.
