Strahinja Stefanović won Spartak sports award

Strahinja Stefanović won Spartak sports award 7.1.2020

21-year-old Serbian canoe sprinter Strahinja Stefanović ended an excellent year 2019 with an award Spartak. This award is given to the best athlete of the year in Vojvodina, autonomous province of Serbia, located in the northern part of Serbia.

The 52nd edition of the highest sports awards in Vojvodina awarded the best in the year 2019 in eight categories. The main award of the ceremony, the Jovan Mikić Spartak award for the best sportsman of the year, named after famous athlete, went to the hands of Strahinja Stefanović.

Strahinja recorded his biggest success so far in his career at the Senior World Championships in Szeged where he picked up silver medal in men’s K1 200 metres final and also secured himself a ticket for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Earlier in the season he also won medal in the same event of the 2019 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships in Račice.

“It would be ungrateful to say that it does not mean much to me to be the recipient of this award. The season 2020 will be the most important for all of us because of the Olympic Games. I have won the quota and I hope I will justify this award with a good result,” said Strahinja Stefanović upon receiving this award.
