There were six events contested on the opening day of canoe sprint competitions at the 2024 Olympic Games, and Germany had success in four of these events. German men’s K4 and their K2s set the fastest qualifying runs of the days. “The K4 is the most important boat for all of us, and then the K2, and hopefully in the K2 we can also show our best,” Jacob Schopf said.
Similar thing happened in women’s K4 and K2 boats, where Paulina Paszek and Jule Hake showed good form on the opening day.
Italians will have high hopes with Carlo Tacchini and Gabriele Casadei in men’s C2 event, after they safely qualified for the next stage of the competition. “It was a tough race, we didn’t have the best race, so we think we can improve and get better for the semis. It was very important that we missed the quarter finals, so we broke the ice in a good way. It’s been eight years since my last Olympic appearance, this is where I want to be, so I just need to keep enjoying the moment,” Tacchini said.
