The River Dee presented excellent water levels, and the local organisers ensured smooth operations throughout both competition days, providing athletes with fair and exciting racing conditions. Ivo Lamers needed to win the sprint in order to take top spot in the ECA cup rankings which he did comfortably in the second run. In Womens K1 Luisa Puttkammer finished 2nd to Katie Pocklington but gained enough points to claim top spot in the rankings beating last years winner Kerry Christie by 23 points. In Mens C1 an injured Nicky Cresser just needed to finish in order to keep the top spot in the rankings. Womens C1 race was won by Tereza Marouskova, with Victoria Scholzova in 2nd and Fanziska Gawehn in 3rd who gained enough points to overtake Kerry Christie in the rankings and win the series overall. The C2 classes where won by Filip Kopriva and Cenek Hitha with Kerry and Emma Christie winning the wonmens C2 and taking the overall top spot in the rankings. Although not competing in Llangollen Janko Presencki and Josip Slonisak stayed top of the rankings in Mens C2 class.
The event once again highlighted Llangollen’s reputation as a challenging and scenic venue for international wildwater competitions. Athletes, coaches, and supporters praised the strong organisation and the excellent racing conditions. A big thanks to Jamie Christie and his team.
