The first medals were awarded to the best in men's U23 canoe event in Solkan, where the main favourites handled the pressure and produced good runs. French canoeists Jules Bernardet, Alexis Bobon and Yohann Senechault won gold medal in a very tight race, only 0.38 seconds ahead of second positioned team of Czech Republic with Vaclav Chaloupka, Vojtech Heger and Matyaš Lhota. Bronze medal was won by German team.

 

France also celebrated gold medal in men's junior C1 event with Tanguy Adisson, Mewen Debliquy and Quentin Mailllefer. They were a little over half a second faster than Czech canoeists, while Italy won bronze medal.

 

Marseillaise played also in honour of winners of the men's K1 U23 event. It was Malo Quemeneur, Anatole Delassus and Simon Hene who won European Champion title ahead of Italian and Spanish kayakers.

 

Women's kayak events, both in U23 and junior categories, ended with Slovak win. Michaela Hassova, Sona Stanovska and Kristina Durecova were unbeatable in U23 age group ahead of Great Britain and Germany, while Zuzana Pankova, Ivana Chlebova and Amy Ryan took gold in junior event ahead of representatives of France and Slovenia.

 

Like in women's kayak, the one country dominated women's C1 event. Czech national anthem played in honour of Martina and Gabriela Satkova and Tereza Fišerova in women's C1 U23 event, and Tereza Kneblova, Klara Kneblova and Lucie Doležalova won European Champion title in junior category. Spain and Poland were second and third respectively in U23 event, while Russia and Germany reached podium positions in junior women's C1 team event.

 

Young Russian kayakers Egor Smirnov, Ivan Kozlov and Konstantin Kazakov were the best in men's junior K1 team event. The team of Great Britain won silver medal and Slovakia was third.  

 

Before the team events took place competitiors fought for the spots in men's and women's canoe semifinals. Angele Hug (FRA) set the fastest time of the day in women's U23 C1 event, Jules Bernardet (FRA) was the best in men's C1 U23 event, Mewen Debliquy (FRA) in men's junior C1 event and Tereza Kneblova in women's C1 junior event.

 

In the last part of the competition day we followed extreme slalom time trials, where Martin Rudorfer from the Czech Republic (MCLlX jun), his compatriots Tereza Kneblova  (WCSLX jun) and Tereza Fišerova (WCSLX U23) and French kayaker Anatole Delassus (MCSLX U23) produced the fastest times of the day.

 

On Saturday ,the championships continues with semifinal and final in men's and women's kayak events, as well as the main part of the extreme slalom competition.
