The overall winners of the 2024 ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup are known 25.11.2024

Athletes from 15 countries took part in the 2024 ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup race series which lead them to six different venues in five European countries. Majority of the overall winners come from Great Britain, while the other winners come from Croatia, North Macedonia and France.


The 2024 ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup race series started in France with a race in St. Laurent Blagny, followed by races in Fulda, Holme Pierreport – Nottingham and Salza in the first part of the season, while Banja Luka and Llangollen races came in the second part of the season.
 
There were athletes from Great Britain, France, Czechia, Germany, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Croatia, Switzerland, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Austria, Ireland, Australia and Slovakia competing at one or more races of the series.
 
British paddler Alex Sheppy is the overall winner of men’s senior kayak event with a total of 354 points. He competed at four out of six races, like Ivo Lamers from Netherlands who was second with 343 points. Frederick Brown (GBR) was third with 340 points.
 
In women’s senior kayak standings three British representatives occupied all top positions. Kerry Christie won the series with 155 points with participation at four races, Molly Sandercock was second with 146 points and Emma Christie was third with a total of 120 points.
 
Croatian paddlers Janko Presecki and Tomislav Hohnjec were first and second respectively in men’s senior canoe overall standings. Presecki won the series with 139 points, while Hohnjec finished second with 125 points. Swiss canoeist Jonah Mueller was third with 100 points.
 
Molly Sandercock (GBR) and Emma Christie (GBR) were the best in women’s canoe event. Sandercock won the series with 100 points and Christie was second with 84 points. Czech paddler Alexandra Plachtova who competed at one race was third (50 points).
 
Croatians Janko Presecki and Tomislav Hohnjec dominated in men’s C2 senior event. Participating at three races, they won 141 points. Germans Bene Scholz and Dennis John were second with 92 points from two races, while Britons Jakob Holmes and Robert Jefferies won third place in the overall standings with 89 points.
 
Kerry and Emma Christie (GBR) were the best in women’s C2 event with 50 points, their teammates Iona Patrick and Laura Milne were second (46 points), while French duo Clotilde Mette and Clara Norguet finished third with 43 points.
 
The top two places in the junior men’s kayak event were won by young North Macedonian paddlers Kristijan Lazarov who concluded the season with a total of 273 points and Blagoj Guginov who gathered 253 points. Both competed at three races of the series. German Nicolas Niederle Gomez was overall third with 200 points.
 
In women’s junior kayak overall standings Elsie Landsborough from Great Britain competed at three events and gathered 118 points, which brought her the overall win. Germans Ronja Haselhoff and Juli Faass both had a total of 96 points for shared second position in the standings.
 
There was also shared overall win in men’s junior canoe event. Both Noa Nikiema – Schwarz (FRA) and Tobias Trnka (CZE) concluded the series with a total of 50 points, while Julien Tassotti (FRA) and Filip Stratil (CZE) finished third in the standings with 46 points each.
