The programme of the European Games 2023 presented

The programme of the European Games 2023 presented 24.10.2022

The season 2023 will bring many exciting competitions, and European Games in Krakow will undoubtedly be on the top of the list. Canoe Sprint will be featured in the sports programme for the third time in history, while Canoe Slalom will make its debut in Poland as a part of the European Games.

Canoe Sprint has been in the sports programme of the European Games already in Baku and Minsk and next year it will be the third time canoe sprinters will fight for the European Games titles. On the other hand it will be a debut for Canoe Slalom, including the extreme slalom, in Krakow, on a venue that has hosted numerous canoe slalom competitions of the highest level in the past. In both – canoe sprint and slalom – European Games will count as European Championships.

Canoe Sprint and Canoe Slalom are two of the 28 disciplines, included in the European Games that will be contested in eleven cities. The Games will start on 21st June 2023 at the City Stadium in Kraków. Canoe Sprint will be on the programme between 21st and 24th June, while Canoe Slalom will follow between 29th June and 2nd July.

Krakow will host majority of the sports, while some will be organised in Chorzow, Krynica-Zdroj, Zakopane, Nowy Targ, Tarnow, Wrocław, Rzeszow, Oswiecim, Nowy Sacz and Krzeszowice.

“Ahead of us is the biggest sporting event in Europe next year and in the history of Poland,” said Minister of Sport and Tourism Kamil Bortniczuk.

President of the Organizing Committee of the Games Marcin Nowak said: “Why do we organize the Games mainly in Małopolska? Because in Poland there is no other region so beautiful and rich in sports infrastructure. During the preparation of the programme, we focused on using the existing facilities as effectively as possible.”
