The second ECA European Open Canoe Slalom Cup comes this weekend

The second ECA European Open Canoe Slalom Cup comes this weekend 23.4.2019
Wildwater Course in Ljubljana – Tacen, Slovenia, which hosted the 2005 and 2017 ECA Canoe Slalom European Championships, will welcome the second race in newly introduced race series ECA European Open Canoe Slalom Cup. This European Cup is a part of ICF ranking race as this year is a test season for ECA cup.

Competitors from ten countries are on the entry list for this race and they come from Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Switzerland, Sweden, Ukraine, United States of America and Netherlands. Besides the best Slovenian paddlers, including multiple European and World Championships medallists Peter Kauzer and Benjamin Savšek, there will be strong Italian team on the start of the race with Giovanni de Gennaro, Zeno Ivaldi, Stefanie Horn and Robert Colazingari among others. American kayaker Michal Smolen, Ukrainian paddlers Viktoriia Us and Viktoria Dobrotvorska, Sweden’s Erik Holmer, Lena Teunissen and Swiss paddler Lukas Werro are just a few of international paddlers who will test their form on the Sava River too.
 
Slovenian paddlers will be especially motivated since this race will serve as the first two selection races for this year’s senior national team. On Saturday the first run of heats will count for selection races, and on Sunday semifinal run will gave the second result in selection races.
 
Races on Saturday and Sunday are scheduled to start at 10:30 local time, but organisers reserve the right to change the programme in case of too high water level of Sava River.
