France, more precisely Saint-Pierre de Quiberon hosted this year’s Ocean Racing World Championships. European paddlers won three medals in very tough competition. Jorge Enriquez Gutierrez won silver for Spain in men's Junior event, while Hector Henot and Claire Dewaste picked up medals for host country. Henot finished second in U23 event and Dewaste was third in junior category.
The strongest competitors at Ocean Racing World Championships came from Republic South Africa and Australia. Those were the nations with majority of the medals won, but Europeans also won three podium positions. Last year’s European Champions came in empty handed though. Angie Le Roux was very close, finishing fourth in SS1 women’s senior event, while Esteban Medina crossed the finish line of men’s senior SS1 race in 17th place. The best European representative in this event was German paddler Gordan Harbrecht, last year’s European Championships medallist too.
