Canoe slalom paddlers who are preparing for the new season 2024 in Australia took an opportunity and started at the Oceania Championships to find the competition feelings for the first time this year. European paddlers did well, winning in finals of three events.
In exciting finals of Oceania Championships which was held on the 2000 Olympic course in Pentrith, Europeans Jiri Prskavec, Lukas Rohan and Mathurin Madore took the wins in three events, while in other three dominated the local hero Jessica Fox.
In men’s kayak final the current Olympic champion Jiri Prskavec (CZE) took the win despite the two seconds penalty. Czech kayaker was 0.18 seconds faster than Anatole Delassus (FRA), while Mathieu Biazzizo (FRA) won third place, with a penalty he was 4.37 seconds behind Prskavec.
In men’s canoe final the win also went to the hands of Czech representative. It was Lukas Rohan who navigated through the gates the fastest and concluded the final run 0.82 seconds ahead of Australian Brodie Crawford, while Great Britain’s Adam Burgess finished third.
The third European win of the weekend came in men’s kayak cross final. Mathurin Madore from France won in final ahead of Swiss representative Martin Dougoud and Finn Butcher from New Zealand.
In the remaining three finals of Oceania Championships Australian Jessica Fox took the win. In women’s canoe final Gabriela Satkova (CZE) and Evy Leibfarth (USA) joined her on the winner’s podium, while in kayak final Klaudia Zwolinska (POL) and Noemi Fox (AUS) won second and third place respectively. In kayak cross final Jessica Fox won ahead of Camille Prigent (FRA) and Noemie Fox (AUS).
