Tragic death of former Israeli kayaker Barak Lufan 9.4.2022

Canoeing community is in a shock following the tragic death of Barak Lufan, former Olympian, who succumbed to injuries of a terror attack in Tel Aviv.

Israeli media reported that one of the victims of the terror attack in Tel Aviv on April 7 was former canoe sprint Olympian Barak Lufan. A 35-year-old father of three has represented Israel at 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympic Games. After successful sporting career he stayed involved in canoeing as a head coach of Israeli national canoe sprint team and coach of the Paralympic team.

“Our beloved Barak, the grandson of the founders of Kibbutz Ginosar, an exemplary husband and father, an athlete with every fiber of his being, a member of the Olympic kayaking team staff, and an educator of the future generation in the field, has left us prematurely,” his family said in a statement, and was reported by Times of Israel.

We would like to express sincere condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace.
