French canoeist Nicolas Gestin produced the best final run of the day in men's U23 canoe event. He was 0.25 seconds faster than Slovak canoeist and local favourite for the European Champion title Marko Mirgorodsky. To complete an excellent final for the French team Lucas Roisin finished the race in third place to receive bronze medal.

 

 

France really dominated the men's canoe events at this European Championships in Liptovsky Mikulaš. After France celebrated two medals in U23 category another success came in junior event. Yohann Senechault was the fastest in junior final and had a secure win, finishing the race almost five seconds faster than any other finalist in this event. Martin Kratochvil from Czech Republic was second and was 4,49 seconds behind, while another Czech canoeist Adam Kral picked up bronze medal.

 

 

Czech anthem played twice on Saturday. First Tereza Fišerova, who has had much international success already in senior category especially in women's C1, won the European Champion title in women's kayak U23 event, and in the last final of the day Katerina Bekova claimed the second gold medal of the day for Czech Republic in junior women's kayak event. Klaudia Zwolinska from Poland was second and Slovak paddler Eliška Mintalova third in U23 final, while Antonie Galuškova from Czech Republic and Italian kayaker Francesca Malaguti reached the winners podium in junior event.

 

 

The 2019 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom European Championships in Liptovsky Mikulaš will conclude on Sunday with semifinals and finals in women's canoe and men's kayak U23 and junior events.
