U21 Canoe Polo World Champion titles to Spain and France

U21 Canoe Polo World Champion titles to Spain and France 19.10.2024

The first finals of the ICF Canoe Polo World Championships in China were played in the U21 categories, where Spain defended their title in men’s U21 tournament and France celebrated their first World champion title in 14 years in women’s U21 tournament.

Spanish men’s U21 team won their second consecutive World Champion title after theat beat Denmark 3-1 in an exciting final. Danes were a bit surprising finalist, having won 10th place at the previous World Championships in Saint-Omer.

“This is the best feeling. We are world champions two times in a row. It is historic. Now it is time to part,” said Spanish captain Antonio Romero Mesa.

In the women’s U21 final France stood against Spain and emerged victorious for a final 4-2 win.

“It feels great. We finished behind them in the final group stages. But we won when it mattered the most. I am very happy for the team,” said captain Anais Bonamy for the ICF.

France and New Zealand finished third in the men’s and women’s U21 categories respectively.
