Veles hosted the 2025 ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup 7.4.2025

The 2025 ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup series stopped in North Macedonia, more precisely in Veles, where on Sunday competitors fought for the medals in sprint events, while on Saturday they tested their form in classic race. Wins in sprint went to the athletes from Serbia, Croatia and North Macedonia.


The second race in the 2025 Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup series was organised in North Macedonia. The competition attracted competitors from the Balkan region, coming from Serbia, Croatia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the host nation North Macedonia. On Saturday, the competed in classic race, while on Sunday the European Cup race was held.
 
Majority wins on Sunday, when ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup was on the programme, went to the hands of Serbian paddlers. In men’s senior kayak event Neven Kleut (SRB) stopped the clock at 30.61, which was 0.15 seconds faster than local favourite Ljubomir Spasikj (who was also the organiser of the race) set. Croatian Josip Slosnjak and Aleksandar Zlatarov (MKD) shared the third position, as both stopped the clock 0.41 seconds behind Kleut.
 
Kleut family celebrated the win in men’s kayak junior event as well, where Ilija Kleut won with 0.64 seconds advantage over Blagoj Giginov from North Macedonia, while Mateja Lukic (SRB) finished third.
 
Pavle Zdravkovic took the win in men’s C1 event, where Croatian Janko Presecki finished 0.13 seconds behind him to claim silver medal, and Aleksandar Zlatarov from North Macedonia finished third, 7.46 seconds behind the winner.
 
Blagoj Guginov (MKD) was the fastest in men’s junior canoe event, where Serbians Andrija Cvetanovic and Milos Novakovic occupied second and third place respectively.
 
Croatian duo Josip Slosnjak – Janko Presecki crossed the finish line with the best time in men’s C2 event, but it was a very tight race, as Serbians Pavle Zdravkovic and Nenad Mikovic finished just 0.08 seconds behind. North Macedonians Aleksandar Zlatarov and Blagoj Guginov were third.
 
Ksenija Plazinic (SRB) was the fastest in women’s kayak event. She was 3.36 seconds faster than Fleta Decani from Kosovo, while Neda Lisanin (SBR) finished third, 6.04 seconds behind her compatriot.
 
Una Lukić and Ivana Jeremić secured a double Serbian victory in women’s junior kayak event, while third place went to North Macedonian Marija Panovska.
 

The next ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup race will be held on 19th April in Spindleruv Mlyn, Czechia.
