This weekend, the Kayak Centre Tacen is hosting a major international competition – the I Feel Slovenia Canoe Slalom Cup Tacen 2025. The event counts as the fifth race of the ECA Open Canoe Slalom European Cup series and also as an ICF World Ranking Race. On Saturday, Slovenian paddlers Eva Alina Hočevar and Žiga Lin Hočevar claimed victories in the canoe events, while kayak titles went to Italy thanks to Stefanie Horn and Xabier Ferrazzi.
The I Feel Slovenia Canoe Slalom Cup Tacen 2025 delivered two wins for young Slovenian national team members, who shone on their home course. Eva Alina Hočevar took the win in the women’s canoe final, finishing in 95.20 seconds and beating Italian Marta Bertoncelli by 1.57 seconds. French paddler Doriane Delassus took third place, almost three seconds behind Hočevar.
The last final of the day saw another local victory, with Žiga Lin Hočevar delivering a dominant performance in the men's canoe final. He won by 2.79 seconds ahead of Olympic champion from Tokyo, Benjamin Savšek. Croatian representative Matija Marinić, who trains mostly on the Tacen course, finished third.
Once again, Stefanie Horn – the Italian kayaker born in Germany – delivered a strong run on the Sava River. Very familiar with the course where she won a European silver medal in 2017, Horn crossed the finish line with a comfortable 2.85-second lead, securing a clear victory. Fellow Italian Francesca Malaguti came in second, while third place went to Slovenian Eva Alina Hočevar, who had earlier won the canoe final.
In the men’s kayak event, young Italian paddler Xabier Ferrazzi – the son of an Olympic champion from Barcelona and a former top-level Spanish kayaker – clinched the win with a 2.79-second lead over last year’s Tacen European Champion, and Paris 2024 Olympic gold medallist Giovanni de Gennaro. Slovenian Tine Kancler took third place.
