Vit Prindis king of Czech Wildwater paddling

Vit Prindis king of Czech Wildwater paddling 21.11.2022

The 2022 Canoe Slalom World Champion Vit Prindis first received an award for the best Czech paddler of the year both in wild- and flatwater and now he was also crowned the best wildwater paddler of the year in the Czech Republic.

In the poll in which officials, sports journalists and competitors choose the most successful male or female competitor of the Czech Canoe Federation’s wildwater paddler Prindis dominated the poll.

“I'm not a big collector of these awards. But I am pleased that not only delegates and officials, but also competitors could vote. And it is therefore a prize from our community,” said 33-year-old paddler from Prague.

Prindis added: “The journey was long. Last year I really wanted the title, I wanted to fight for a medal in Bratislava. And it didn't work. It certainly wasn't something that broke me. On the contrary. Quite often, defeats and losses motivate me more than any success. I enjoy sports and canoe slalom, so it wasn't about doing sports just for a moment or for some success. So far I'm enjoying it, I feel I could improve and I haven't reached my limit yet. So I hope that my health will hold and I will be able to show some more nice races.”

In the wildwater canoeing part of the polling Marie Nemcova won the title thanks to her best season so far. “The whole season has been absolutely amazing. I kept waiting for these wins to end, that I can't win everything in the whole season. I'm very happy about it. After years when I often messed up the finals, especially at senior events, the victories were all the sweeter. And this victory just underlines the whole season. I will try to keep doing it like this,” said Nemcova.

Milan Bily was introduced to the hall of fame. In the U23 category Gabriela Satkova took the award in canoe slalom and Tereza Kneblova in wildwater canoeing. The best juniors of the season 2022 were Klara Kneblova (canoe slalom) and Anna Retkova (wildwater canoeing).
