Wildwater paddlers started a season with World Championships

Wildwater paddlers started a season with World Championships 4.6.2018

Switzerland hosted this year's Wildwater Canoeing World Championships in Muotathal. It was the first Wildwater championships held in Switzerland after the year 1973. European paddlers did a great job. The first name in women’s part of the championships was undoubtedly young Czech competitor Martina Satkova, who celebrated double World Champion title in individual classic race in K1 and C1 on the opening day of the championships.

On the following day in classic team events she added two more gold medals to her collections - she celebrated a win in women’s C1 and K1 team events with her teammates. In individual sprint final she finished second in K1 and third in C1, and had another gold medal in women’s kayak team event.

In sprint event Slovenian team showed real domination, winning all three podium positions in men’s kayak. It was world champion title for Nejc Žnidarčič, reigning European Champion Vid Debeljak was second, and ANže Urankar, who was defending the title from Pau, was third. Their compatriot Blaž Cof won World Champion title in men’s canoe.
