Young paddlers are fighting for places at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games

There are exciting couple of days ahead of young paddlers. Barcelona hosts Youth Olympic Games canoe qualifiers from Thursday until Sunday with a record number of young athletes participating in the head to head sprint and obstacle slalom C1M, K1W, K1M and C1W events.

There are more than 250 boats entered in the competition with over 60 nations from six continents participating in the competition which takes place at the same venue which hosted the 1992 Canoe Sprint Olympic events. The competition will be tough – only 58 paddlers, 29 men and 29 women, will get the ticket for the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.
