Žnidarčič and Cof take the wins at the ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup race

The first races in the 2020 ECA Wildwater Canoeing European Cup series were held on Kolpa River, on the border between Slovenia and Croatia. After Friday's classic race, Saturday brought sprint events where multiple European and World Championships medallists Nejc Žnidarčič and Blaž Cof took the wins in their respective events.

In the first final of the day Blaž Cof crossed the finish line with the fastest time in men's canoe, finishing 1.03 seconds ahead of Luka Obadić from Croatia and 2.75 seconds ahead of another Croatian canoeist Tomislav Hohnjec in third place.

In men's kayak there is always a rivalry between Slovenian paddlers who are among the best in the world. At the end reigning World and European Wildwater Sprint Canoeing Champion Nejc Žnidarčič took the win ahead of 2017 Wildwater Sprint World Champion Anže Urankar. Only 0.34 seconds divided the top two paddlers in the event. Tim Novak (SLO) was third.

In women's kayak final Austrian Valentina Dreier added another win to her collection. After being the fastest already in Friday's classis race, she produced the best time in sprint too. Ana Šteblaj and Živa Jančar (both Slovenia) were second and third.

Alba Zoe Grzin (Croatia) was the only competitor in women's C1 and Taj Kevin Bizjak - Matija Preskar were the only C2 crew on the start.
