Austrian canoe slalom paddler Corinna Kuhnle has announced her retirement from competitive sport at the age of 37.

As we look back on an exciting year of canoeing, 2024 will be remembered by a series of exceptional European Championships across various disciplines, where athletes showcased their incredible skill and dedication, memorable Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, and much more. European competitors have once again demonstrated that Europe remains the powerhouse of canoeing, with standout performances across the globe at the biggest international events. With numerous podium finishes, our athletes not only upheld the continent's proud legacy but also set new standards for excellence. This Year in Review highlights those achievements and celebrates the collective effort that continues to position Europe as the leading force in the world of canoeing.

Czech canoe sprinter Josef Dostal was named Czech Athlete of the Year 2024 after his successful season in which he became both Olympic and World Champion. In the journalists' poll he won ahead of Wimbledon tennis champion Barbora Krejcikova and his teammate and Olympic Champion Martin Fuksa.

Pascal Bonnetain was elected the new president of the French Canoe Kayak and Paddle Sports Federation (FFCK) on Saturday, 14^th December, following the Elective General Assembly, with 64.67 % of the votes.
