This weekend brings fifth race in the 2019 ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup race series. Piateda - Valtellina, Italy, will welcome wildwater paddlers on Saturday, 6th July 2019. Heats are scheduled for 9:30 and the finals will start at 15:30. Organisers will provide livestreaming of the final, starting at 15:00.

This year’s ECA Wildwater Canoeing European Championships in Soča Valley was a special one for Croatian canoeist Emil Milihram. He won three medals, individual gold in classic event and two bronze medals in team races, which gave him spotlight in local Croatian media, but it was not only his sporting success that caught attention in the press.

It took 19 years to bring back major wildwater canoeing events to French village Treignac. In the year 2000 paddlers fought for World Champion titles and this weekend the Vezere River hosted World Cup race. During the two competition days French paddlers took majority of the medals – altogether 23 – in classic and sprint races. Italian, Czech, Swiss and Slovenian representatives won the remaining seven medals. On Saturday former French president François Hollande awarded the best in men’s kayak classic race.

La Seu d'Urgell is getting ready for the big canoeing festival that is coming this September. Spanish venue will host canoe slalom and wildwater canoeing World Championships and this weekend some of the world's best Wildwater paddlers are in La Seu for the ECA Wildwater Canoeing European Cup to test the course and their form.

The 2019 ECA Wildwater Canoeing European Championships in Bovec, Slovenia, concluded with individual and team sprint events. Local wildwater canoeing star Nejc Žnidarčič claimed European Champion title in men’s kayak final despite the injury. Mathilde Rosa (ITA), Tony Debray (FRA), Cecilia Panato (ITA) and Tony Debray – Louis Lapointe (FRA) also won European Champion titles in sprint.
