The Olympic regatta course at the outskirts of Munich will welcome many Olympic medallists and European and World Champions. The German team is here with their biggest stars and serious medal contenders, but their European rivals came to Bavaria with high goals.

The first canoe sprint European Championships under the auspices of the European Canoe Association was held in 1997 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and in the 21 editions that were held since then Hungary and Germany dominated in this sport.
