Last August, Slovenian canoeing community watched their most known Kayak Centre Tacen being washed away by devastating floods that hit Slovenia and with this their infrastructure on and by the course. Now, only nine months later, the venue awaits one of the peaks of the international canoe slalom season, the 2024 ICF I Feel Slovenia Canoe Slalom European Championships.

Czech canoe slalom paddlers fought for the places in the national team this weekend in Prague. One of the greatest canoe slalom paddlers of all times Vavrinec Hradilek was among those who were on the start line, however he took this opportunity to say goodbye to canoeing family and fans and retire from professional canoe slalom.

The second competition day of the ECA I Feel Slovenia Tacen 2024 European Open Canoe Slalom Cup and the ICF ranking race on the Sava River brought wins to younger generation. The most experienced winner of the day was Eva Terčelj (SLO) in women’s kayak. Elena Borghi (ITA) won in women’s canoe, Lan Tominc in men’s kayak and Žiga Lin Hočevar (both SLO) in men’s canoe.

Ljubljana – Tacen hosts the first of the two ECA canoe slalom competitions in the season 2024 this weekend. The ECA I Feel Slovenia Tacen 2024 European Open Canoe Slalom Cup attracted over 230 athletes from 19 countries. On the first day of finals wins went to the hands of Slovenian, Austrian and British paddlers.
