Slovak canoeist Matej Beňuš, silver medallist of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and multiple medallist of European and World Championships, is preparing for the pre-Olympic season under the supervision of a new coach. He joined forces with his former teammate and 2016 Olympic champion in C2 Peter Škantár.

French canoe slalom athlete Sébastien Combot announced his retirement from canoe slalom racing at the age of 31 after a career expanding over 20 years. His biggest individual success was the K1M World Champion title in 2007.

The year 2018 will be a memorable one for Czech canoeist Tomaš Rak. He won two bronze medals at the ECA Canoe Slalom European Championships that was held on his home course in Prague – Troja (he was third in individual and team events in C1) and at the end of the year he prepared an exhibition of his art work.
