First two competition days in Metković, Croatia, are done. The venue and Neretva river were tested by masters who competed on Monday and Tuesday in the ECA Canoe Marathon Masters Euro Cup. The opening ceremony of the ECA Canoe Marathon European Championships starts on Wednesday and the competition part of the European Championships follows on Thursday.

Read moreViana do Castelo, located in the northern part of Portugal, hosted the Canoe Marathon World Cup race. The competition saw both short races as well as traditional canoe marathon events. Fourteen sets of medals have been given to the best paddlers of the weekend and all but one of them went to European paddlers. Liudmyla Babak (UKR) won two gold medals in women’s C1, Vanda Kiszli (HUN) was equally successful in women’s K1 event and Jose Ramalho (POR) in men’s K1. In junior category Ronan Foley (IRL) celebrated wins in short race and traditional marathon event, and Florence Duffield (GBR) did the same in women’s junior K1 event. Her teammate Georgia Carmichael was second in the same event on both occasions and William Scammel from Great Britain also picked up two silver medals in junior events.
