Hungary leads the Nations Cup and medal table of Olympic Hopes in Poznan

The second day of the Canoe Sprint Olympic Hopes regatta in Poznan, Poland, brought the 500 meters events. Hungary, Germany, Belarus, Denmark, Czech Republic and Slovakia were again among the strongest nations participating at this competition. After two competition days Hungary leads in the standings of Nations Cup as well as in the medals table. On Sunday the exciting competition weekend will conclude with 200 metres events.

First medallists in Poznan are known

More than 600 athletes from 36 countries are competing this weekend in Poland and after the first day we already have the medallists in the 1000 metres events. Athletes from Germany, Denmark, Hungary, Belarus, Serbia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Portugal, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Canada reached the winner’s podium on the opening day of Olympic Hopes regatta.

Poznan hosts Olympic Hopes Regatta

Between Friday and Sunday Poznan, Poland, is in the centre of canoe sprint community’s attention. On the Malta Canoe venue more than 600 young paddlers from 36 countries are competing in the Olympic Hopes regatta. On Friday they are testing their form in the 1000 meteres events, on Saturday the 500 metres races are scheduled, while on Sunday the excting competition weekend will conclude with 200 metres events. At the end of the weekend the Nation’s Cup will be awarded to the best country according to the results in the A finals.

Top four nations of the Canoe Sprint World Championships are European ones

European canoe sprinters were the strongest at the recently concluded Canoe Sprint World Championships in Portuguese Montemor-o-Velho. The top four nations of the overall medal table are all from Europe. Germany won thirteen medals, Russia eleven, Hungary nine and Belarus eight. Many European Champions and medallists reached the medal positions at the World Championships too. Among the World Champions, silver and bronze medallists we can find stars such as Danuta Kozak, Franziska Weber – Tina Dietze, Emma Jorgensen, Max Hoff and Marcus Gross, Sebastian Brendel, Martn Fuksa, Fernando Pimenta, Tom Libescher, Josef Dostal, Saul Craviotto, Cristian Toro, Marcus Cooper and Rodrigo Germade, Henrikas Žustautas, Rene Holten Poulsen and many more.

Hungary and Belarus excel at Canoe Sprint World University Championships

Szolnok, Hungary, was the venue of this year's FISU Canoe Sprint World University Championships that attracted athletes from 21 countries. Most of the competitors came from Europe, but there were athletes from Australia, Canada, Japan, China, India and Mexico on the start line too. The most successful were Hungarian and Belarus teams, each winning 20 medals or more in the 28 events that were organised this end of the week. Besides them athletes from Poland, Ukraine, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Spain, Great Britain, France, Australia and Japan also reached the winner’s podium.
