Two gold medals for young Hungarian canoe sprinters at Youth Olympic Games

Eyes of canoeing community have been turned to Buenos Aires as the canoeing part of the Youth Olympic Games started with two day head to head sprint competitions. As it was to expect young Hungarian paddlers did a great job winning three medals in four events that were organised. Eszter Rendessy took gold medal in women’s kayak head to head sprint final, Adam Kiss did the same in men’s kayak final, while Laura Gonczol picked up silver medal in women’s canoe event. Athletes from Slovakia, Belgium and Czech Republic also finished the competition in winner’s podium.

The 2018 edition of the International Congress of Canoeing Coaches in Spain, whose partner is among others also European Canoe Association, is getting closer. It will be held between 26th and 28th October 2018 in Catoira and there is still time to register to be a part of the congress which attracts canoeing experts and coaches from different countries. Before the start of the VII edition of this congress we have talked with Manuel Isorna Folgar, president of the organising committee, who is professor at the university of Vigo and former technical director of As Torres Canoeing Club.

The best canoe sprinters of the season 2018 are known

At the end of the season 2018 and after the canoe sprint and paracanoe World Championships the International Canoe Federation released the 2018 World Cup standings. European paddlers were on the top in all but one category. Winner of women’s kayak event is Linnea Stensils from Sweden. Evgenii Lukantsov from Russia is winner of men’s kayak category and Martin Fuksa from Czech Republic celebrated the overall win in men’s canoe. The best nation in team events is Germany.

European Champions Fernando Pimenta and Martin Fuksa win at special canoe sprint race in China

Some of the world’s best canoe sprinters, such as European senior champions Fernando Pimenta and Martin Fuksa and reigning European U23 Champion Carlo Tacchini as well as Polish star Marta Walczykiewicz competed at a special event that was held today in China. Two special events, this one in China, and one following later this week in Russia, bring new competition concept with 600 and 350 metres events and special 100 meters event where male and female athletes will be randomly paired to race in mixed C2 and K2 boats as well as special prize money fund.

Hungary concludes Olympic Hopes in Poznan with a total of 40 medals

The 2018 edition of canoe sprint Olympic Hopes regatta in Poznan, Poland, concluded with 200 metres events and a complete dominance of Hungarian team who topped the medal table with a total of 40 medals (18 gold,15 silver, 7 bronze) won over the three competition days. German athletes won 30 medals in the past three days, while Canada occupied the third place in medal count.
