Prague is ready to host the 2018 ECA Canoe Slalom European Championships

In exactly one week the 2018 ECA Canoe Slalom European Championships will start in Prague, capital city of Czech Republic. Opening ceremony, however, will be held on Wednesday (30th May), but the first competitions will start on Friday (1st June) when heats in all individual categories will be organised.

One week and European Championships in Prague will be officially opened

We are only one week away from the opening ceremony of the 2018 ECA Canoe Slalom European Championships in Prague. The Championships will open on Wednesday, but first competitions will be held on Friday when heats in all categories will be organised (C2M, C1W, K1M, K1W, C1M). On Satuday we will see individual semifinals and finals as well as team events in C2M, C1W and K1M, while on Sunday championships will close with individual semifinals and finals and team events in K1W and C1M.

Nicolas Peschier announces his retirement

French slalom canoeist Nicolas Peschier announced his retirement from professional sport on his Facebook page. Peschier, who celebrates his 34th birthday today (16th May), has been a member of French national team for 18 years. To announce the end of career he wrote, “Some pages require time and a lot of thought before being definitely turned. This one has told 20 years of my life. After almost 18 years in the French team, selection to Olympic Games, nine starts at World Championships, European Champion title in C2 and many medals in team events, it is official: ‘I hang my paddle'.”

Hradilek wins Czech title but stays outside the team

The fourth CEZ Czech Cup in Prague on 13 May closed the Czech selection races for the season 2018. At the same time the Czech titles have been awarded to the fastest athletes. Vavřinec Hradilek got a revenge for his unsuccessful selection races as he won the title in men´s kayak beating Prskavec and others.
